Our visit to the Cove in Kihie. We had a fun day. M was able to bring a friend along this really helped her get over her fear of sand. It is only a 20 minute drive from our place. But it is one of the best spots for learning to surf in Maui. Sandy bottom, small waves, and the waves break closer in than most breaks we have been to. All of this adds up to a good place to bring your kids.
E was all geared up for a surf lesson but then she decided she just wanted to swim and body surf. We will try again next week.
As you can see we have done a good job of not letting M get too much sun.
This is a good site with information on how to drive to The Cove in Kihie
I am still having a hard time with the water, it is so warm. Yesterday when the sun went behind the clouds the water was warmer than the air. It is absolutely amazing!
I prefer the far end of The Cove in Kihie it is very shaded the beach area is small but worth crowding so you can sit under the huge shade trees. It also has bathrooms and a shower with a few picnic table. I am not a big fan of the picnic area but the rest of The Cove in Kihie is worth a visit if you have little ones who are learning to surf The Cove in Kihie is the spot.
