San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua is an amazing beach town. We were lucky enough to visit San Juan Del Sur this year for our friends wedding. What a beautiful location for a wedding and honeymoon with close friends. Nicaragua is a laid back country where families, couples, or singles will find fun. On this trip I only brought my youngest daughter because my older daughter had school.
The house we stayed is called Casa del Sol it is in the heart of San Juan del Sur. The owner and his wife went out of their way to make sure we were all happy during our visit. Arranging cab rides, making dinner reservations, helping us hire people to cook dinner for us at the house. When you rent a house you do not expect to have a full-time concierge it was a pleasant surprise.
Casa del Sol can be rented by the room or you can rent the entire house. Our group had this house and the house next door. I think being in the heart of San Juan Del Sur was key to us enjoying our trip.
Baby M seemed to really enjoy this trip. And the people in San Juan Del Sur seemed to enjoy her. Baby M always seems to be happy wherever we are traveling, in our VW Van, swimming at baby beach in Maui, playing in Nicaragua. She is just a happy easy-going little girl. She was the only child on our vacation to San Juan Del Sur. She hardly made a peep she just enjoyed the sun and swimming and all the adults enjoyed her.
This little guys were everywhere! And almost neon in color.
Most rides to town or surfing were in the back of a truck. At one point we fit 15 people in one Toyota Hilux. We thought we were pushing the limits for this truck. But after really looking around this is just how people travel in San Juan del Sur.
We chartered a sailboat. Baby M was 50/50 on this the captain scared her and then the dingy ride to shore was just a little too much.
This dog is an amazing guard dog. But still very friendly to anyone staying at the house. Not sure how he is so smart but he is. Enjoyed having him around.
Sandy bottom… small to medium surf…. we were in heaven. We spent most of our time at a private beach. Paying to reach this beach was well worth the $2 american per person.
Will we visit Nicaragua again. Yes, it is an amazing place unique to itself. The culture, the climate, the surfing all amazing. It’s not America, it’s not the plush beaches of Maui or even plush beaches of Sayulita Mexico. San Jaun del Sur is far from America. Bring what you need. I was stung by a bee and had an allergic reaction finding medicine was not as easy as you would think. No Walmarts, no fast food, this is a quiet little town. Sunblock is hard to find. But in my opinion San Juan del Sur is simple and perfect.
